46% of the world’s forests are already destroyed
Trees And Plants Are Being Burned, Degraded And Logged At Astonishing Rates.
46 – 58 Thousand Square miles of forest are lost every year.
That’s equivalent to 48 football fields every minute. We are losing an area of forest the size of a football field every 1.2 seconds.
80 000+ Acres
Acres of forests disappear from the Earth every day and at the same time, 121+ natural remedies in the rainforest can be used as medicines.
The world’s rainforests could completely vanish in a hundred years at the current rate of deforestation.
We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It
This program is the forest garden approach and through it, Trees achieves a triple bottom line impact of people, profit, and the planet. Trees aim to alleviate poverty and eradicate hunger while maximizing the environmental benefits provided by each of the millions of trees we plant each year. This is an innovative approach that is not only revitalizing the environment but is also planting thousands of families out of poverty in a sustainable way.
The Forest Garden Program is a sustainable agriculture practice where farmers plant a specific variety of crops and trees in phases over a four-year period. Farmers learn to plan for their family’s future by discovering how planting 4,000 trees with food crops will help them make more money, grow more food, and build a sustainable future. They learn to plant over 12 types of fruit trees and vegetables to meet market opportunities and the nutritional needs of their families.

The Positive Impact
Trees clean the air. They sequester around 20% of the carbon in the atmosphere (carbon contributes to climate change). Trees help clean the water. It actually is like a filter when there’s heavy rain. They absorb the water and release it gradually. Trees help with soil erosion and they have a social impact on it in terms of employment and life (1.6 billion people on this planet are somehow connected to forests for their livelihood). Trees are home to 80% of the world’s biodiversity (on land).
A Healthy Environment
Contributors can also choose where their tree gets planted (North America, Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe), and are kept in the loop as their donations are put to work.
Also, there are a lot of new projects each year. For example, a new 500,000 fruit trees reforestation project to combat poverty and hunger while fighting pollution and climate change in India in order to support the needs of families while creating a positive impact for the environment.
